Bharat Fritz Werner (BFW),one of India's largest machine tool manufacturer, had approached Enfost to design a fresh visual identity for their next generation high performance Horizontal Machining Centres (HMCs). These HMCs were to be launched as their flagship products for the Indian market, as well as compete with established players in Europe and Asia - Pacific.
Being the first one of its kind, BFW wanted their High performance HMCs to have a very distinct and 'modern' visual identity, which could be translated to other versions of this machine as well as other models and ranges ; and attribute to BFW's continued and growing presence in the machine tool industry.
As with any design process, a huge number of design directions were proposed at the initial stage. Working closely with the engineers, machine designers and manufacturing vendors, the concepts were refined until all design and engineering criteria had been achieved.
Since this HMC was being developed to compete in the international machine tool market, and with the intention to set a new benchmark in the Indian market, there was a special attention paid to improve the general standards of manufacturing.
The detailing in the sheet metal claddings, their assembly, clearing intereferences between moving parts, along with the overall form and volume, where only some of the many factors which were addressed to achieve all that the concept envisioned.
The final design was showcased in the IMTEX Expo, and was very well received by machine tool market!
